About our Catholic Schools

The Twin Cities

The Twin Cities of Saint Paul and Minneapolis (MAP) are rich and diverse cities with dramatic skylines, exciting professional sports, award-winning theaters, and a booming restaurant scene. Whether you are a music-lover, avid biker, or love hiking — there is something for everyone. Minnesota is home to 66 state parks, 10,000 lakes, and historic music venues famous for their live music. We enjoy all four seasons, and, while you have likely heard of our snowy winters, we also enjoy beautiful summers and vibrant falls.

The Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis

Many are surprised to discover that the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis —shepherded by the Most Reverend Bernard A. Hebda — is home to over 825,000 Catholics and a robust Catholic community. Catholic schools in the archdiocese represent a core ministry of parishes. Our schools serve more than 31,000 preschool–12 students in 79 Catholic elementary schools and 17 Catholic high schools. Of those who graduate from our Catholic high schools, 97 percent continue their education. As the fourth largest school district in the State of Minnesota, our Catholic schools provide an experience of excellence while saving Minnesota taxpayers approximately $300 million annually in public education costs. Our Catholic schools also continue to demonstrate success at closing the achievement gap for economically disadvantaged students and students whose first language is not English.

A place to call home

Beautiful and historic churches dot a path from the urban core to the rural boundaries of the archdiocese but none more beautiful than the Cathedral of Saint Paul and the Basilica of Saint Mary — consistently ranked in the top 10 of most beautiful churches in the United States. 24-hour adoration and daily confessions are commonplace at our parishes thanks to our faithful priests who are on fire for the Lord.

Find your people

Lay apostolates abound in the land of 10,000 lakes. Saint Paul’s Outreach and NET Ministries call Saint Paul home. The Catholic Studies department at the University of Saint Thomas is oldest and largest of its kind. Young adult groups like Emmaus, Theology on Tap, Catholic Beer Club, and Catholic Softball Group make it easy to connect with others who share your values. Come see for yourself why many come but few leave the lively Catholic community of the Twin Cities.
